You've saved the photos. You've bought the yarn.

So why does starting still feel so hard?

Maybe you've scrolled past crocheted creatures with expressive eyes and sculpted little feet and thought, I would love to make that. Then you opened a beginner video and it jumped straight into magic rings, invisible decreases and abbreviations that looked like a secret code.

Perhaps you tried anyway. The stitches twisted, the count never added up, and you couldn't tell what had gone wrong or how to fix it. So the project went back in the bag, half finished.

Here's the truth: crochet isn't an artistic talent. Every stitch has a fixed, repeatable method, and when you follow a pattern you get a predictable result.

Hi, I'm Jessie

Designer of Projectarian and maker of life-sized amigurumi animals.

Since founding Projectarian in 2015, I've developed a distinctive style of amigurumi that blends realistic, natural form with colour and playful charm. I design my patterns to be accessible to crocheters of every skill level, without compromising on the complexity and detail that make each creature distinctive.

Working from my home studio in South Africa, I've collaborated with industry partners, and my designs have been featured in books, online publications and crochet communities around the world.

In this course, I'm going right back to the beginning with you: your first stitch, your first pattern and your first creature.

This is a complete introduction to crochet with one clear goal: getting you ready to make amigurumi creatures. Across 8 modules and more than 9 hours of content, we start with the true basics, choosing beginner-friendly supplies and making your first stitches.

Every skill is followed straight away by a short exercise or simple model, so you practise as you learn. You'll understand stitch anatomy, troubleshoot mistakes and read patterns with confidence.

Then you'll put it all together in three creature models built from one simple, repeatable component, each level a little bigger than the last.

The course is made up of 8 modules and more than 9 hours of video lessons, arranged in the order your hands need them. Each skill is taught, demonstrated close up and then practised with a short exercise, so nothing is left to guesswork.

The first four modules build your foundations. The last four turn them into creatures at three levels of complexity, all made from the same simple component.

Level 1 is a small, quick win. Level 2 is a satisfying medium-sized project. Level 3 can grow as large as you like, and you can stop and finish whenever you're ready.

Work through the lessons in short sessions that suit your life, and if you ever get stuck, you'll have access to my Projectarian support forum for extra help.
